It is Autism Awareness month! And all month on the Morning Grind we are talking to people in the community who are striving to make life better for people on the spectrum! And one of those groups is Best Buddies. But, it’s not limited to people on the spectrum!
According to their website:
Everybody needs a friend. But not everybody has one. It can be very hard for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to make connections on their own. So Best Buddies matches them with a peer volunteer to form a “buddy pair”. New friends open up a whole new world of opportunities! And donations from people like you and me make local Best Buddies programs possible.
Want to learn more? Come out to the Best Buddies Friendship Walk at the Corn Crib in Normal! Meet neighbors and families who are driving the inclusion bus and see what Best Buddies is all about!
It would mean the world to parents all around central Illinois to see your support!
